Description

The Oakland Zoo started in 1922 with a pair of pet lion cubs in cages on the lawn of a museum filled with taxidermy animals. 100 years later it's become one of the best zoos in the country. Stop by during regular library hours to see photographs, correspondence, newspaper articles, maps, and more telling the story of the zoo's first 100 years.
