Seed Library kickoff event & Earth Day Celebration @ Montclair Branch

Hand-on workshop: Short Demo, practice seed starting.

Gardening expert Elizabeth Sommer-Reid will be on hand to answer questions, give encouragement and share her love for all things garden! There will be a short demo - practice seed starting: handle types of containers (recycled  yogurt containers, to-go containers, egg carton, toilet paper rolls and planting media. Learn how to fill containers and create a seed bed; understand planting depth and spacing; and discuss seeds that need light to germinate. Seedling care: indoor vs outdoor, watering, and which seeds do better with direct sowing vs. starting seedlings

Supplies needed: bring your own small containers - soil will be provided.

Participants will learn best practices for sowing seed and seedling care.
