Events › Laptop Repair Workshop

This is a self paced workshop ,led by ThinkPads4All, where participants will receive individualized instruction on essential repair skills, functions/behavior of electronic components, and tips to properly maintain laptops.

Participants will begin by fully disassembling a provided laptop, gaining hands-on experience with the essential components and their functions. Throughout this process, they will learn crucial maintenance tips such as how to assess components for common failures, and learn some additional essential repairs hands-on with the laptops. Once they have completely disassembled the laptop, participants will then reassemble it from scratch, reinforcing their understanding of the laptop’s internal structure and how every part interacts with each other. Finally, they will test their work by booting up the laptops to ensure everything has been assembled correctly!

Bonus: Fixit Clinic repair volunteers (www.fixitclinic.org) will be on hand to offer advice repairing and upgrading personally-owned laptops and other tech, including transforming expired Chromebooks into working laptops.

All ages welcome and all materials needed will be provided!
