Enter the lively world of fantasy masks created by artist and retired arts educator, Donald O. Greene. This exhibit is on display at the Main Library from now until September 20th.
Donald O. Greene is an artist and retired arts educator based in Oakland who has been teaching and making art here professionally since the 1960s. Born in 1940 in Youngstown, Ohio, Mr. Greene arrived in Oakland in 1946 and caught the itch to make art at a young age, while a student at Prescott Elementary School in West Oakland. A longtime, adventurous and beloved art teacher in OUSD (Skyline High School) and SFUSD, Mr. Greene also hosted the local arts interview program Start Art with Dr. Don from 1983 to 2003.
This display at the Main Library will showcase Mr. Greene's art spanning nearly seven decades and will include ephemera as well as newspaper clippings from his lengthy career as an artist and educator in the Bay Area.
