Join us at the Dimond Library for a Senior Series presented by experts from Legal Assistance for Seniors, a Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program.  The topics covered will be:

1/9 - Create a Secure Future: Advanced Health Care Directives (AHCD)

• How to complete forms including INFO for appointing an agent, end-of-life decisions, and POLST forms
• Referrals to planning tools (Wills and Durable Power of Attorney for finance)
• Suggestions and guidance for preparedness

1/16 - Consumer Fraud

• Discuss common scams and forms of fraud
• Provide practical tips on how to recognize scams and protect yourself
• Provide information on referral sources such as where to report fraud and where to get help

1/23 - Seniors' Guide to Public Benefits

• Provide an overview of cash benefits including Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
• Provide an overview of health benefits including Medicare and Medi-Cal
• Explain the Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI)
• Review General Assistance (GA), Cal WORKS, and Food Stamps

1/30 - Home and Community Based Services

• Overview of cash benefits including Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
• Overview of health benefits including Medicare and Medi-CAL
