100 Years of Black History Commemorations - Reflections

1:30 PM – 4:00 PM
African American Museum and Library at Oakland

Description

African American Nurses (identification to the left)

Join us for an uplifting afternoon sharing the untold story of Ms. Lillian Black. Ms. Black’s resilience and hope will inspire all.  We must reflect on the role of Black History Month in this “real time” as we also celebrate the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence July 4, 2026.

Ms. Lillian began her doll-making journey in 1995 at Bunny’s Doll Cottage in San Leandro, California. What started as a stress-reducing hobby quickly turned into a passion. After completing her third doll, Ms. Lillian found herself “addicted” to the art.

This passion led her on an incredible journey to an international doll show in London, England, alongside ten other “Dollarians” from the United States and Canada.
