Also included are several legal agreements from Oakland Railways, and legal agreements and investment certificates from the Realty Syndicate.
Series 2: Personal papers (folders 7-11), consists largely of photographs of the Smith family, various residences -- primarily their Oakland, California, estate, Arbor Villa -- and the family's yacht and private railroad car. Also included are a few letters and legal filings from 1914 and 1921 relating to Smith's financial troubles. The folder of material on his homes and haunts, including Arbor Villa and Oak Hall, also includes two programs of events, a 1930 auction catalog of the paintings removed from the home, and photographs from the 1990s of furniture removed from the home, of Smith's childhood home in Wisconsin, and the Harmony Borax Works in Death Valley, California, circa 1900.

Smith Trust (folders 12-16), contains legal documents, including the deed of trust (1902), annual reports (1902-1913), photographs (1902-1910) of the cottages, Home Club, and girls, and three publications, "The Cottage gazette" (Dec. 1905, Feb. 1906), a souvenir program for the cantata "The Flower Queen, or, coronation of the rose," (1904, Mar. 12), and "The Most beautiful philanthropy of modern times," by J. W. Malcolm (1904).
